Today, my friends and family paid a visit to your once charming town, and the approach into town on Grant Avenue from Interstate 505 was alarming. New fast food restaurants popping up, trees been chopped down, litter and garbage strewn about along the road.

City leaders, be careful of the progress you wish for so that you may add to the tax revenue for your town. Continue to strip away the charm that is the reason for folks like myself to come here, and we’ll choose other destinations that make the effort to hold onto their unique charm and we will spend our tourist dollars there as well.

  1. Thanks for the letter, Mark.

I think there are a lot of interesting discussions ahead for Winters where a balance must be found between tourism and livability for residents.
