I met Melissa Moreno several years ago while organizing an indigenous garden project.  Melissa was, at the time, balancing a full professional life with heavy family responsibilities.  Despite the load, she coordinated a marvelous conference at Woodland Community College that brought together people generally without a voice to the fore so that they could plan and implement their own programs. I was impressed by her dedication and since that time have been in touch with her over the years. I understand Melissa’s passion for advocacy, her ability to organize and develop major projects under pressure, her incredible personal knowledge of the educsation system where she has worked herself up from a classroom aide to a college professor.  Melissa provides a voice for the disenfranchised: women and minority populations. Beyond that she connects with mainstream concerns and unites people of all persuasions. She will provide fine service on the Yolo County Board of Education Area 2. Please give her your vote. Sincerely, Valerie Whitworth Retired Davis and ARC teacher and former Winters School Board member]]>
