The West Yolo Democratic Club is holding its next discussion night on Thursday, Aug. 1, at 6:30 p.m., in the conference room of the Yolo Federal Credit Union, 168 East Grant St. This will be the fourth in an ongoing series about core values of the club. The public is invited to attend.
This week members and guests will gather to discuss how our country can strengthen the integrity of our democracy. Over the course of the last two decades, people have lost trust in government and elected leaders in both parties and at all levels. The discussion will begin with addressing that issue. Why has politics become a bad word? How can it be changed? Are politicians still considered public servants? What can citizens do to make lasting change? These and other ideas will be part of the evening’s talks.
The forum is open to anyone regardless of political affiliation. Participants are welcome to join in the conversation or just sit and listen. It is free of charge and there will be light refreshments served.
The West Yolo Democratic Club meets the fourth Monday of each month in private homes. For more information the forum or WYDC, call Rebecca Fridae at 795-4600.
