Sunrise Rotary of Vacaville will be hosting its 27th Annual Alvin Bonifacio Fishing Derby at Lake Solano Park on Saturday, Sept. 24.

This event is held in memory of Alvin Bonifacio, a long time charter member of the Sunrise Rotary Club of Vacaville who was a key player in making the annual derby a success, as well as spearheading the building of the fishing pond at Lake Solano Park, located at 8685 Pleasants Valley Rd., near Winters, Calif.

The event is free, except for parking entrance fees charged by Lake Solano Park. No advance registration is required, however the first 500 children, age 14 and under, will be provided with a rod/reel, tackle and bait. A hot dog lunch is also provided.

Fishing commences at 8 a.m. for kids 7 years old and under, all kids can fish from 9 a.m. to noon.

Trophies are awarded to various age categories based on the largest fish caught in each category, along with the trophy for the Largest Fish.
