Winters Theatre Company is hosting auditions for “Midsummer Night’s Dream” by William Shakespeare next week.

Midsummer Night’s Dream is a Shakespearean classic comedy with unforgettable characters, language and outcomes.

On a midsummer night, four young lovers find themselves wrapped in the dream-like arms of an enchanted forest where sprites lurk and fairies rule. While a feuding Fairy King and Queen are at war, their paths are crossed by Bottom, Quince and their friends presenting a play within a play. Chief mischief-maker Puck is on-hand to ensure that the course of true love is anything but smooth, and games of fantasy, love and dreams ensue in Shakespeare’s most beguiling comedy.

The audition dates for “Midsummer Night’s Dream” are being held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8 and Thursday, June 9 at the Winters Opera House (13 Main St.).

Auditions will consist of cold reading from the script.

Performances will be held on the outdoor stage behind the Winters Community Center on Fridays and Saturdays, August 5, 6, 12 and 13 at 7 p.m.
