The Yolo County Fair is very excited to showcase the Yolo County Fair Opening Night Gala in the recently renovated Olive Plaza, formerly known as the Flower House.

The Gala is scheduled from 6-8 p.m. on the opening night of the fair on Wednesday, Aug. 14, celebrating its 14-year anniversary. Guests will have a chance to mingle with local community leaders. There will be wine, beer or olive oil or organic produce, nuts and local restaurant fare to sample. Entertainment will be provided by local live music stylings of Chicken and Dumpling.

“The Gala is my favorite kind of event,” said Elaine Yamaguchi, Yolo County Fair Board vice president. “It isn’t a fancy affair; people come as they are, sample some of the best of Yolo County’s products and chat with old and new friends. It’s a great way to start the Fair, and I look forward to it every year.”

Tickets are on sale now for $30 per person at the Yolo County Fair Office, 1125 East St., Woodland, as well as online. The event sells out every year, so buy tickets early. The ticket cost is $35 at the gate if there are any left.

The Yolo County Fair is the largest and oldest free gate fair in California. This year’s theme is “Let it Goat at the 2019 Yolo County Fair”.
