Police Aug. 21: Baker/Second Streets, vehicle burglary. Aug. 22: 3:00 p.m., 100 block of E. Grant Avenue, petty theft. Aug. 23: 12:21 a.m., 100 block of E. Grant Avenue, audible commercial alarm. ~3:59 a.m., 100 block of East Grant Avenue, audible commercial alarm. ~1:45 p.m., Larry Roberts, 37, of Winters was arrested on charges of robbery, false imprisonment and burglary. Roberts was transported to Yolo County Jail for incarceration. Aug. 24: 3 p.m., Larry Roberts, 37, of Winters was arrested at the Yolo County Jail on additional charges of battery with serious bodily injury and false imprisonment. Aug. 26: 2:40 a.m., 100 block of E. Grant Avenue, recovered a vehicle reported as stolen to Vacaville Police Department. ~10:58 p.m., Luis Angel Montes, 18, of Woodland was issued a notice to appear for being an unlicensed driver and failing to stop at a stop sign/limit line. Aug. 27: 12:27 p.m., A 17-year-old Winters juvenile was arrested for acquiring a credit card unlawfully and fraudulent use of the credit card. Juvenile was released on a notice to appear. ~4:44 p.m., On Putah Creek river bed, domestic dispute. ~8:38 p.m., 400 block of Russell Street, domestic dispute. Aug. 28: 9:44 a.m., First block of E. Baker Street, victim was contacted through fraudulent means and defrauded of money. ~7-7:05 p.m., 400 block of Russell Street, theft from unlocked vehicle. ~10:53 p.m., 700 block of Main Street, located a person who was reported as missing to Vacaville Police Department. Fire Aug. 23: 7:07 p.m., medical aid, 100 block of Broadview Lane. ~9:10 p.m., vegetation fire, Main Street/Ireland Street. ~10:23 p.m., medical aid, E. Grant Avenue./Timber Crest Road. Woman shot to death in Winters; manhunt on

A manhunt was underway Monday night for the suspect in a shooting in downtown Winters that left a 32-year-old woman dead and stunned a community not used to such violent displays. While the victim's name was not yet released by coroner's officials, friends and colleagues identified the slain woman as Leslie Pinkston, a 1999 graduate of Winters High School and the mother of a young daughter. Twelve hours after the shooting, Winters police announced they had obtained an arrest warrant for Pinkston's ex-boyfriend, 30-year-old William Carl Gardner III of Sacramento, in connection with the fatal shooting. Chief Sergio Gutierrez said Gardner should be considered "armed and dangerous."
