Joseph Hawkins, a Winters youth and sixth grader at Notre Dame School, is the Pisani’s Athlete of the Week. Hawkins is regularly active in swimming, soccer, basketball and baseball. However, when all sports were put on hold he started focusing on skateboarding. He sought help and a mentor in his neighbor Pete Hagy who also skates and builds skateboards. Hawkins dedicates time every day to perfecting technique and learning new skills. Every Friday he goes to a skate park with Hagy and can now do kick turns, fakie ollie tricks, feeble grind and more.
