Nine Warriors named to CIF All-league football team

The California Interscholastic Federation named nine Warriors from the Winters High School football athletes onto their two all league teams. Carson Lowrie, Aiden Cruz, Cooper Andres, Alberto Lopez and Tony Garcia made the first all-league team.David Reyes, Dylan Adams, Jose Escobedo and Joe Southwood made the second all-league team.  After football season Coach Daniel Ward held an awards banquet for this year’s football teams to celebrate their efforts. This fall the team had a year of rebuilding, and an unexpected outcome of making it to the playoffs. The Warriors learned different aspects of the game from a strong line on both sides of the ball, but more importantly, the value of teamwork. The top honors and awards for the varsity team start with the Lineman of the Year award which went to the defensive line’s strongest player and leader, Cooper Andres. Aiden Cruz was a force on the field, on both the offensive and defensive lines, who helped lead the Warriors to the second round of playoffs. Cruz’s actions earned him the Iron Warrior Award, and he was named the Defensive MVP.   The Offensive MVP went to the team leader of the team and quarterback Carson Lowrie. Three coaches awards were given to Diego Escamilia, Jose Escobedo and Alberto Lopez. The last award for the varsity team was the Senior Scholar athlete Award that went to Jason Drummond.  The junior varsity team had three members from their ranks who were recognized. Memo Valadez was named the Offensive MVP and Conner Ray the Defensive MVP. The Coaches Award went to quarterback Matt Moore. ]]>
