Eligio Sandoval Ochoa, 78, of Winters, passed away at home surrounded by his wife and four daughters on February 28, 2021 after a difficult battle with prostate cancer. Eligio was born on February 24, 1943 to Eligio and Maria Dolores Ochoa in San Antonio Guaracha, Michoacán, Mexico. He moved to California at the age of 14 through the Braceros program where he worked in Solano and Yolo Counties. He was a farm laborer for five years before he started working in construction. Through his work he met many lifelong friends and through them he met the love of his life, Eusebia. They married Sept 8, 1964, going on to have four daughters, Dolores, Yolanda, Candi, and Erika. For 56 years they shared everything life offered. They were a great team and supported each other and their family in every way. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world. Eligio was an avid exerciser. He and his wife would often be seen walking their daily route around town. He also enjoyed spending time traveling with family, pressing his luck at casinos, and swimming in all bodies of water, but his true happy place was the hammock in his backyard. Anyone who knew Eligio knew that he was the most loving father, grandfather, and husband a family could ask for. He will be severely missed by his friends, family, and all that knew him. Eligio was predeceased by his mother, father, sister, and four brothers. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Eusebia Ochoa, four daughters, Dolores Ochoa, Yolanda (Alistair) Findlater, Candi Ochoa, and Erika Ochoa. His grandchildren include Orlando Barrera, Jack Findlater, Nicholas Findlater, Ryan Findlater, Jayde Mathias, Jameson Mathias and his great-grandchildren Roman Barrera and Antonio Eligio Barrera.
