Yolo County Sheriff’s Deputies responded Friday evening to a call of a physical altercation between two groups at a local brewery.
Captain Matthew Davis said that according to their shift call log, deputies were dispatched to the Berryessa Brewing Company at 6:15 p.m. on Friday and found that two groups had engaged in mutual combat over the wearing of face masks. Both groups declined to prosecute, and both refused medical treatment.
Davis said there was little information on the details of the event available from their shift call log.
Berryessa Brewing declined to comment on the altercation, but said this was an isolated incident. They surmised that the incident was exacerbated by conflicting mask guidance coming from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Neither California or Yolo County have yet adopted the CDC’s updated latest update to face coverings, and masks are still required indoors at businesses, except when eating and drinking.
