City Pool Programs City Manager Kathleen Salguero Trepa told the Express that the City officially started its open recreation swim program. Sign ups are required to participate in order to control occupancy at the pool. They will collect a $2 fee per swimmer. A 10 Visit Punch Card for $20 is also available. Children who under the age of 13 must be accompanied by someone 16 years or older in order to participate at open swim. The City also announced a Swim Night event will kick off on Friday, July 16. Winters PD CSI Camp Registration is open for the Winters Police Department CSI Camp. The Winters Police Cadet Program has taken over the program that initially began as a Winters High School senior capstone project. The event is scheduled on Saturday, July 31 and Sunday, Aug. 1 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Winters Public Safety Facility. The CSI Camp is a 2-day interactive event where teenagers (ages 15 to 17 years old) will learn about the processes of crime scene investigation including such as interviewing, fingerprinting, blood spatter analysis. Afterwards they’ll get an opportunity to put their skills to the test at a staged crime scene and attempt to solve the crime themselves. There are only 15 spots available for this year’s camp. Express Rainfall Contest The Winters 2021 Rainfall season has officially started as of July 1. The 2020 season total was 7.99 inches – compared to the 2019 season total of 13.37 inches. The Express will announce the winners for the 2020 Express Rainfall contest soon, as well as details on the 2021 contest. Check for the season’s total updates on the front page of each edition of the Express under “Weather.” American Rescue Plan workshops Yolo County is hosting American Rescue Plan (ARP) Community Workshops throughout the County for members of the public to participate and share feedback on where the County should consider prioritizing the use of its ARP funding to have the greatest impact. A workshop is scheduled in Winters on Tuesday, July 20 at 6 p.m. prior to the Winters City Council meeting. A virtual workshop is scheduled for Thursday, July 22 from 4 to 6 p.m. via a Zoom meeting. Juvenile Detention Facility Future Uses Listening Sessions The Yolo County Probation Department is hosting two community listening sessions to share information with residents on the current uses of the Juvenile Detention Facility, as well as options for potential future uses that have been explored to date. Participants are encouraged to provide feedback on the presented options and offer input on additional opportunities that have not yet been considered. The listening sessions are scheduled for July 27 and Aug. 11 both beginning at 6 p.m. The sessions will be available in English and Spanish. Child Tax Credit info session Congressman John Garamendi is hosting an information session on Thursday, July 15 at 10 a.m. at 1720 Jade Street in Davis to share details about the advance monthly payments of the Child Tax Credit expected to be paid from July 15 through December. Yolo County Virtual Career Fair YoloWorks!, Yolo County Health and Human Services Agency and the Yolo County Workforce Innovation Board, in partnership with the California Department of Human Resources and Sacramento Employment and Training Agency is hosting an Accounting Pathways Virtual Career Fair on July 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Additionally, the State of California will be offering an hour-long How to Begin Your Finance Career seminar at 10 a.m. during the virtual career fair.
