Quinton Lee Shirley was born May 5, 1942 in Paris, AR; the first of seven children born to Joseph and Jewell (Hutson) Shirley. The young family moved west and settled in the Winters area, where Quinton grew up and graduated from Winters Joint Union High School in 1960. After high school Quinton joined the Air Force and served as a journalist at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, TX. Quinton then pursued a career in welding. He worked various jobs in the industry, became a master welder, and retired from Cargill Salt Division in 2019 after 28 years of faithful service. In 1972 Quinton married Louise Boswell. The two enjoyed 42 years of marriage, making many happy memories fishing, playing pool, watching 49ers football, and tending to their ever-growing family. Quinton passed away in his Winters home on October 12, 2020. He will long be remembered for his easy-going nature, his love for family, and the sense of humor that stayed with him until the end of his days. Quinton was preceded in death by his dear parents, beloved wife, brothers Wesley, Ronnie, and Stan, daughter Jeanne, son-in-law Bruce, and grandsons Troy and Brian. He is survived by his brother Jim (Kimberly), sisters Brenda (Gary) and Kathy (Glen), children Peggy (Dennis), Janet, Barbara, Charmagne, David (Summer), Kathy, and Sean, 20 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
