Healthy Yolo Together Special to the Express As part of an effort to deter the spread of COVID-19 in the Winters community, the Winters Joint Unified School District (Winters JUSD) has launched a partnership with Healthy Yolo Together to offer free, on-site COVID-19 testing to students and staff this summer. “We are proud to work with Healthy Yolo Together to offer COVID-19 testing on our campuses,” said Winters JUSD Superintendent Diana Jiménez. “We encourage all Winters JUSD students and staff to help us keep our community healthy by taking advantage of this free resource.” The saliva-based tests are available to all Winters JUSD students and staff every Thursday throughout the summer at Winters High School, Rominger Intermediate School and Waggoner Elementary School. A full schedule is available at wintersjusd.org. Free gift cards or snacks are available at the testing sites for those who participate. Healthy Yolo Together, a project of the University of California-Davis, also is partnering with school districts across Yolo County, including Davis Joint Unified School District, Woodland Joint Unified School District and Washington Unified School District. Healthy Yolo Together provides logistical support, guidance from public health experts and critical resources as the districts implement on-site, saliva-based COVID-19 testing for asymptomatic students and staff. “I commend Winters Joint Unified School District on its work to offer weekly COVID-19 testing to students and staff,” said Yolo County Public Health Officer Dr. Aimee Sisson. “Until widespread vaccination is available for all school-aged children, weekly testing helps to limit the spread of COVID-19, keeps students and staff safe, and in turn helps to protect our entire community.”
