Winters JUSD receives $600K grant to support preschool, TK educators and families

Winters JUSD Special to the Express The Winters Joint Unified School District is proud to announce that is has been awarded the Growing Strong Learners Initiative grant by the James B. McClatchy Foundation. This $600K grant is designed to support preschool and transitional kindergarten (TK) educators and dual language learner families. The District will receive $200,000 every year for three years. The purpose of the grant is to: -Provide professional development opportunities for preschool and TK teachers. -Create and ensure alignment between Preschool and TK programs. -Implement a family engagement program. -Develop and sustain a parent advisory committee. -Develop and sustain parent leadership capacity. The Growing Strong Learners Initiative grant will strengthen the school district’s ongoing commitment to ensure all early education students, including dual language learners, are prepared academically, socially, and emotionally for the next grade level. The grant will also provide funding to support a comprehensive parent advisory committee and leadership program. Both of these initiatives are crucial components in ensuring positive and successful outcomes for Winters students and families.
