The Yolo Elections office acknowledged an error with earlier election results because of a glitch with new mapping software the office used to provide a visual representation of election figures.
In a press release on June 13, the Yolo Elections Office said it discovered the bug affected reporting of vote-by-mail precincts within the county. The issue was corrected earlier this week and the correct results were displayed as of June 13, the Elections Office said.
Figures shown in the table format on the Elections Office website were not affected by the glitch, the office said.
The primary election was the first time the Elections Office used a map to provide a visual display of returns by reporting precinct. The project was a test run with Redlands-based software developer esri, and officials said they hope to use the mapping software again in November.
