In response to the pandemic, Yolobus introduced YOUR Ride, an on-demand microtransit pilot program offering Winters and El Rio Villa residents on-demand transportation to and from Davis and Vacaville, as well as within Winters.

Winters City Councilmember and Chair of the Yolo County Transit District (YCTD) Jesse Loren said the program is very exciting.

“The pandemic hit and we didn’t run buses. When we started to return to routes, YCTD added Winters to the microbus pilot program that was already initiated in Knight’s Landing,” Loren said.

Winters YOUR Ride users must first register and provide evidence of residency. Registration forms and information are available at yolobus.com or by calling customer service at 530-402- 2891 to request one by mail. Registration forms are available in English and Spanish.

Under the pilot program, riders can download the free Tripshot app from Apple or Google stores or call to schedule a “Curb to Curb” shared ride within Winters or to Davis and Vacaville.

“Shared ride” means it is possible that some seats may have been previously reserved by other users.

For example, a rider could schedule a pick-up time in Winters, be dropped off in Davis or Vacaville and then be picked up at a later scheduled time and return to Winters.

The service operates Monday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. YOUR Ride recommends booking a ride before 4 p.m. to ensure the trip during periods of high demand.

Three small transit buses, each capable of transporting eight passengers, have been designated to the YOUR Ride program, although Acting Executive Director Jose Perez said they have buses available to accommodate larger needs.

Vehicles are equipped with wheelchair lifts to accommodate wheelchairs and they can transport bicycles.

During the pilot period, promotional fares will be as low as $1. The full fare is $4 per person and youth under 18 may ride free through Dec. 31 of this year.

More information specific to the YOUR Ride program can be found at yolobus.com/yourride/.
