Varsity volleyball has a busy week

Makynsie Tuttle number 3 for the Winters High School varsity volleyball team serves the ball during the Dixon Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 1.[/caption] On Thursday, Aug. 30, Winters traveled to St Helena to take on the Saints but once again after a hard fought battle lost the match 3-0. “Once again the girls continue to do and amazing job on the court,” Mac Mahon said. “We had several girls that did well serving the ball. Amy Pizano, Jocelyn McMillan, Iten and Kelly all served well while McMillan, Aide Aguilera, Kelly and Iten did a great job at the net. Jackie Aylala did an amazing job with getting the ball up to help with the great attacks.” Winters lost 25-19, 25-14 and 25-15. On Saturday, Sept. 1, the Lady Warriors competed in the Dixon Tournament and had an impressive showing. Winters took on Sutter in their first game and lost 25-20 and 25-19. “Kelly and Iten did a great job at the net,” said Mac Mahon. “They had several great attacks and blocks to keep the game close.” In their next match Winters faced Enterprise from Redding and lost 25-9 and 25-13 and then took on South Lake Tahoe. In game one Winters lost 25-20 and then dug down deep and put up a fight in game two. After battling back and forth the game was decided by a point with Tahoe winning 33-32. “It was an amazing game to watch,” Mac Mahon stated. Winters final game of the day was against Middletown which they lost 25-22 and 25-20. “The girls played some hard games and made for a long day,” Mac Mahon said.]]>
