It was down to just six athletes competing for the Winters High School track team as they traveled to West Valley High School on Friday, May 25, to compete in the Northern Section Championship meet. With the hopes of joining a small elite group of Winters High alumni that have made it to the CIF State Championship Meet, the Warriors knew they would have to beat the best in the section to get there. None of the Warriors advanced to the state meet but all six of them placed in the top 10.

Jules Jiminez was the only girl advancing to the finals for Winters competing in the 100 meters. Jiminez had a great showing on the big stage, clocking a 13.49 for a sixth place finish. Kohner Butts competed in two individual events and made the top 10 in both. Butts placed third in the 400 with a time of 50.77 and took ninth in the 800 in 2:05.14.

Alec Matheson placed sixth in the high jump with a height of 5’8”. Albert Ramos took seventh place in the triple jump with a leap of 39’9”, while the boys 4×400 meter relay team of Anthony Jimenez, Claudio Reyes, Ramos and Butts took an impressive fifth place with a time of 3:40.03.
